NHIDCL is spending ₹148.67 crore to stabilise eight landslide prone spots on the road to Sikkim, and the NH-10 slope protection tender closes at 3:00 PM on 26 October 2026.
Eight sites, named chainage by chainage
The scope is slope protection and landslide mitigation at eight vulnerable locations: km 3.750 to 3.900, km 8.200 to 8.370, km 11.000 to 11.875, km 33.960 to 34.230, km 39.850 to 40.030, km 45.850 to 45.955, km 49.180 to 49.320 and km 49.850 onward. The notice, reference NHID/WB/NH10/SP/8spots/25, comes from the NHIDCL corporate office in New Delhi on EPC mode.
NH-10 is the only all weather road between the plains at Siliguri and Gangtok. When a slope on it goes, Sikkim is cut off, which is why eight separate sites are being treated under one contract rather than patched one at a time.
A very long maintenance tail
The portal lists ₹1,48,67,00,000 as the value and ₹1,48,67,000 as the EMD, exactly 1 per cent, with no exemption. The fee is ₹23,600. The number worth noticing is the work period: 4,320 days, close to twelve years. That is construction followed by a long defect and maintenance obligation, so the bidder is signing up to keep these slopes standing, not just to build them.
This is not an earthmoving job in the usual sense. The money goes into rock bolts, anchored mesh, soil nails, catch structures and getting water off the slope before it gets into it. Plan for drilling rigs on platforms cut by a long reach excavator, shotcrete and grout fed by mixers, and a crane to place barriers and precast units from the carriageway. A small backhoe loader handles the drains and the debris clearance that comes with every wet spell. Everything has to work inside a half carriageway with traffic held by flagmen, often on a slope that is still moving.
