Grease Gun Price in India: Backhoe (JCB), Excavator and Loader Guns, Grease

A hand-held lever grease gun for a construction machine costs about ₹425 to ₹1,200 in India, a 3 kg bucket greaser about ₹1,850 to ₹2,300, a 5 to 6 kg bucket greaser about ₹1,500 to ₹6,000 and a 20 kg lever-operated bucket pump about ₹3,800 to ₹6,100. An 18 to 20 kg bucket of lithium grease to fill them is listed at about ₹4,500 to ₹9,500. These are seller listings for new items that we checked on 29 September 2026.

The same guns grease a backhoe loader, an excavator, a wheel loader, a hydra crane or a roller, whatever the make. Most people call a backhoe loader a JCB, so “JCB grease gun” is what many buyers type for any heavy-duty gun, and some of them mean the JCB-labelled tools sold in India. What does a grease gun cost in India?

The table groups the guns by type and size. Prices are per piece, for new items, and several sellers quote them before GST.

Prices come from seller listings on IndiaMART, Moglix, Toolbuy and Industrofy. Groz, Prima, Stanley and other tool makers sell these types, and many dealers sell a bucket greaser without a maker’s name on it. The JCB-labelled tools in the listings sit inside the same ranges: a 500 g lever gun at about ₹700, a 6 kg bucket greaser at about ₹1,750 to ₹4,030 and an 8 kg bucket greaser at about ₹3,300 to ₹6,700.

What do 3 kg, 5 kg and 18–20 kg mean for a grease gun?

The figure is how much grease the gun or pump holds before it needs filling again. It says nothing about pressure or quality.

• A hand-held gun takes a 400 g cartridge or about half a kilo of loose grease. It is enough for a round of the joints on a small machine, and it is the gun most operators keep in the cabin.
• A 3 kg, 5 to 6 kg or 8 to 10 kg bucket greaser is a small steel drum with a lever pump on the lid and a hose to the nipple. The operator fills it from a bigger tin and can grease a backhoe loader or a mid-size excavator several times over before it runs dry.
• 18 kg and 20 kg are usually the size of the grease bucket itself, the pack in which grease is sold. A 20 kg lever pump is a lid and pump that fit straight onto that bucket, so there is no transfer and less dirt gets in.

Machine makers sell grease in the same packs. JCB, for example, lists its own-label Grease Special in 3 kg and 20 kg packs, which is why so many searches pair “JCB grease” with those two sizes.

Which grease gun suits each type of machine?

Manual lever gun

The standard tool on any site. You pull the lever and each stroke pushes a small shot of grease into the nipple. It needs no power and works in any corner of the machine, which is why every machine should carry one even when a bigger pump is kept at the yard.

Pistol-grip gun

A lever gun built so that one hand holds the gun and squeezes, leaving the other hand free to hold the hose on the nipple. It is handy for nipples that are hard to reach, such as those under a loader arm.

Bucket greaser

The practical choice for an owner who greases a machine every shift. It carries enough grease for days, and the long hose reaches the king post and stabiliser pivots on a backhoe, or the boom foot on an excavator, without the operator climbing around the machine.

Pneumatic grease pump

Runs off a compressor and delivers grease with almost no effort. It suits a workshop or a fleet yard where several excavators, loaders and rock breakers are greased every day. On a single machine the cost of the compressor rarely pays back.

How often a machine is greased decides which gun is worth buying. The intervals below are the ones printed in makers’ operation manuals; the one in your own manual always comes first.

What does a bucket of grease cost?

A lithium-based EP2 grease is the common general-purpose choice for machine pins and bushes, and some makers name a lithium complex or moly grease for particular joints. A breaker chisel usually takes a chisel paste or a moly grease. The grade to buy is the one in your operator manual.

Across these listings, EP2 grease works out to about ₹165 to ₹525 a kilo, and most well-known buckets sit near ₹250 to ₹300 a kilo, or about ₹4,500 to ₹5,500 for an 18 to 20 kg bucket. Castrol, Shell and Gulf also sell EP2 greases for machines, and several machine makers sell their own-label grease through their dealers; we found no clean listed price for those, so ask the dealer for your make. Why do grease guns of the same size cost so differently?

• Pressure. A gun rated for higher pressure clears a stiff or half-blocked nipple, and costs more.
• Build. A cast or forged head, a steel barrel and a proper hose last longer than pressed sheet metal.
• Hose and coupler. A flexible hose and a coupler that locks onto the nipple waste less grease.
• Seller and city. The same bucket greaser is listed at different prices in different cities, and some prices exclude GST.
• Minimum order. Many IndiaMART prices are for traders buying five or ten pieces, so a single gun at a local shop may cost more.

How do you keep a grease gun working?

Keep the grease clean. Fill the bucket greaser with the lid off for as short a time as possible, wipe the coupler before it goes on a nipple, and store the gun in the cabin or a box, never on the ground. Replace a coupler that no longer grips, because a coupler that leaks puts grease on the outside of the joint and none inside.
