As of October 2026, electric construction equipment in India is a published catalogue rather than a set of press releases: on their own Indian product pages we counted six electric machines from Volvo CE, eight from SANY, seven from JCB and five from ACE, and thirteen electric or cable-fed machines are listed on this site for enquiry. The gap sits exactly where most buyers are looking. No maker publishes an electric mini excavator or an electric backhoe loader for India, and the one electric crane we saw named in a maker’s own brochure line had no product page behind it. The list below records what each maker publishes, machine by machine, with the date we read it.

The four words this list uses

Most coverage of electric machines in India mixes a launch photograph with a product. The difference matters when you are the one signing the order, so every row below carries one of four words, and each word has a test behind it.

Word What it means here The test
On sale The machine has its own page in the maker’s India product range A dealer can quote it and send you a specification sheet today
Pilot Running on a named customer’s site as a trial There is a customer and a site, but no catalogue entry
Displayed Shown at an expo or in a launch photograph No India product page; often no published specification
Announced Named in a press release or a roadmap Nothing you can specify, price or schedule

One finding is worth stating before the tables: by October 2026 that separation has largely resolved itself. The machines that stood on expo floors between 2023 and 2025 have either moved into a maker’s Indian catalogue or left no public trace at all. We could not confirm a single current pilot from a maker’s own page, which is unsurprising, because trials are rarely published. Where a machine is still only displayed or announced, we have said so and pointed to the piece that already tracks it.

Electric excavators on sale in India

Digging is where the demand is, and it is also where the Indian offer is thinnest at the small end and surprisingly deep at the large end. Two makers publish Indian product pages for electric excavators.

Volvo CE EC500 Electric On sale 49,006 kg, 250 kW gross power, grid-connected through a cable run from the ground Volvo CE India product page, 22 Oct 2026

Volvo CE EC55 Electric On sale 5,800 kg, 67 kWh battery at 400 V, 0.2 m³ bucket, runtime up to 4–6 hours Volvo CE India product page, 22 Oct 2026
SANY SY215EP On sale 21,900 kg, 150 kW motor, 160 kVA power transformer, bucket to 1.5 m³ SANY India product page, 22 Oct 2026
SANY SY375EP On sale 37,800 kg class, 200 kW motor, described by SANY as cable-type SANY India product page, 22 Oct 2026
SANY SY870E On sale 380 kW motor, described by SANY as a high-voltage electric mining excavator SANY India product page, 22 Oct 2026

Read the power column before the weight column. Three of these six are not battery machines at all. SANY’s SY215EP is listed with a transformer rating and no pack, the SY375EP is called cable-type on SANY’s own page, and Volvo’s EC500 Electric takes its power from a cable off the grid. That is a quarry or a fixed face machine, and it needs a supply at the dig, not a charger in the yard. The site power and charging requirement is the first thing to settle on any of them.

At the small end there is nothing. Neither maker publishes an electric mini excavator for India, and the compact machines you will read about in trade coverage are other markets: New Holland’s 2.5-tonne E25X, for instance, runs a 32.2 kWh pack with four to eight hours of working time, but it is a North America launch with no confirmed India availability. If you want to compare the running numbers before any of this matters, our electric versus diesel excavator running cost working goes through the energy and tariff side, and the ten most advanced electric excavators covers the machines themselves.

Electric loaders and road compactors

Loaders are a shorter list and a cleaner one, because both entries are battery machines with published pack sizes.

Volvo CE L120 Electric On sale 19,700–21,000 kg, 282 kWh at 600 V, CCS2 charging, 172 kN breakout force Volvo CE India product page, 22 Oct 2026
SANY SW956E Super On sale 19,000 kg, 5,800 kg rated load, lithium iron phosphate pack SANY India product page, 22 Oct 2026
Volvo CE DD40 Electric tandem roller On sale 3,800 kg, 67 kWh battery at 400 V, on-board charger Volvo CE India product page, 22 Oct 2026
Volvo CE PT220 Electric pneumatic roller On sale 134 kWh battery at 400 V, on-board charger Volvo CE India product page, 22 Oct 2026

The two loaders sit in the 20-tonne class, which is the size Indian quarries and ready-mix yards buy in volume, and both are the kind of fixed-cycle, return-to-base machine that suits a charger better than a long-haul duty does. The rollers are the same argument in a smaller package: a 3.8-tonne tandem working a night resurfacing job in a residential street is the clearest case electric has in India right now. The electric wheel loader guide and the electric roller and compactor guide cover runtime and charging for both classes.

Electric trucks and tippers

This is the one category where the picture is genuinely split, and it is already tracked in detail. SANY publishes Indian product pages for off-highway haulage: the SKT110E is listed at a 70-ton nominal payload and 110-ton gross vehicle weight on a 466 kWh pack with 820 kW peak power, and the SKT105E and SKT115E are listed with battery options of 423, 466 and 621 kWh. On the road side and in dump trucks, BEML, Olectra and JSW each sit at a different point between a published specification and a roadmap entry. Rather than repeat that work, see our maker-by-maker record of electric tippers and dumpers, which carries each company-stated figure with the date it was stated, and the electric dumper and tipper guide for how the machines work.

Electric cranes and concrete machines

Here the honest answer is a short one. We did not find an electric crane with its own product page on an Indian maker’s site. ACE names an electric crane in the product line it lists on its home page, but neither its equipment menu nor its sitemap carries a page for one, and the F150-ev shown at a trade event in 2023 does not appear in either. The crane ranges ACE actually publishes are pick-and-carry, truck-mounted, lorry loader, crawler, rough-terrain and tower.

Concrete is the same shape. Electric transit mixers and an electric boom pump have been reported in Indian trade coverage, but we could not open the makers’ own pages from our end to confirm a model, a specification or a status, so we have left those rows out rather than repeat a secondhand figure. They will go in when a maker’s page confirms them.

Electric lifting and warehouse machines

This is the quiet surprise. The deepest Indian electric catalogue is not in earthmoving at all, and two of the makers building it are Indian.

SANY SM4256T0BEV terminal tractor On sale 282 kWh traction battery SANY India product page, 22 Oct 2026

The pattern is worth noticing if you are deciding where to start. Indoor and enclosed work went electric first because the emissions case is immediate and the duty cycle is short and predictable. A ports or warehouse operator in India has had a real choice for years; a contractor digging foundations still has a narrow one. Our guides go deeper on electric scissor lifts, electric forklifts and pallet trucks and stackers.

The electric machines listed on this site

Thirteen electric, battery and cable-fed machines sit in the catalogue here, all enquiry-based. Six carry a listed price; the rest are quoted on request, which is normal in this class because the pack, the charger and the site supply are specified per order.

Prices are indicative as of October 2026 and taken from our listings at the time of writing. The current set, with live availability, sits on the electric excavator range, and the funding side of a machine at this price is worth settling early through equipment finance, because lenders treat battery residuals differently from diesel ones.

Two things stand out in that table against the maker lists above. The 2.8-tonne LiuGong 9027FE EV is the smallest electric digger anyone here can actually quote, which matters because no maker publishes an electric mini excavator for India. And at the top end, the Liebherr and BEML machines are 90 to 175 tonnes: mining shovels that have run on mains power for decades, long before anyone used the word electric as a selling point.

Makers we checked and found nothing electric for India

These are stated as findings about what we could read, not as claims about what a company makes. In each case we opened the maker’s Indian product listing and went through it.

We did not find an electric machine in the Indian product range published by Komatsu India (274 pages, where electric appears only in a blog post about mining haulage), Mahindra Construction Equipment (118 product pages) or CASE India. We did not find an electric product page on Tata Hitachi‘s Indian site either; it does carry a media release about a joint development with ABB on a battery rigid dump truck, but that page would not open from our end, so we are stating nothing from it.

JCB India deserves its own line, because it is the name most people type. JCB publishes seven electric machines for India and not one of them digs: six scissor lifts and the A45E boom. Its Indian excavator range runs from the JCB 81 and JS130 to the NXT and JS series, its mini excavators from the 18Z to the 55Z, and its backhoe loaders are the 3DX family, with no electric model in any of the three. The 19C-1E electric mini excavator shown abroad is not in JCB’s Indian range. Our guide on whether there is an electric backhoe loader in India goes through that question properly.

Four makers are missing from this section rather than cleared by it. The Indian sites of Caterpillar, Hyundai Construction Equipment, Develon and XCMG either refused our requests or did not resolve, so we did not check them and make no claim either way. They go in next month if the pages open.

How we built this list of electric construction equipment in India

Every row came from the maker’s own Indian website, read on 22 October 2026, not from trade coverage, a press release summary or another list. Volvo CE’s Indian electric machines range is the one source we have linked in full, because it is the page the six Volvo rows above are quoted from. Where a maker publishes a figure, we quote the figure and attribute it; where a maker publishes nothing, the row says so instead of carrying an estimate. Machine weights and prices in the catalogue table are from our own listings on the same date. Nothing here is ranked and nothing is scored, because availability is a fact and a ranking would be an opinion dressed as one.

Three limits are worth knowing. Being listed on an Indian product page means a dealer can quote the machine; it is not proof of a delivery in your state this quarter, and it is not a price. Figures a maker states about payback, running cost or emissions are the maker’s claims, and we have not reproduced any of them here. And the absence of a machine from this list means we did not find it, which is a statement about our search as much as about the market. This page is re-checked monthly, and makers move.

The bottom line

If you dig for a living, the Indian electric choice in October 2026 is six excavators and two loaders from two makers, most of them 20 tonnes and up, and several of them fed by a cable rather than a battery. If you lift, stack or shift containers, the choice has been real for a while and keeps widening. If you want a small electric digger, the honest answer is that nobody publishes one for India yet, and a dealer who tells you otherwise should be asked for the product page.

The practical next step is to decide the power question before the machine question, because a cable machine and a battery machine are different projects on the same site. Work through the electric machines guide for how each type behaves, compare what is currently listed across the electric excavator range, and if the machine is going on a contract, check what is out for bid in current tenders before you fix the specification.

Prices, specifications and features are indicative, vary by variant, location and date, and should always be confirmed with the official OEM or authorised dealer before any purchase decision. DesiMachines is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of information that may have changed after publication.
