An electric excavator is a tracked digger whose hydraulics are driven by an electric motor instead of a diesel engine, taking its power either from an on-board battery or from a trailing cable plugged into a site supply. The electric excavator price in India on our own listings in October 2026 runs from ₹28.5–31.5 Lakh for a 2.75 tonne mini up to ₹1.05–1.16 Crore for a 39 tonne machine, and seven of the thirteen machines we list are quoted on request rather than published. The table below gives every one of them with its class, its power source and its band.
Electric excavator price in India: every model we list today
Prices in this class move with the battery market, with the supply the machine is built around and with what a dealer includes in the deal, so we publish an indicative band and a date rather than a single figure. Each band below is taken from that machine’s own product page as it stood in October 2026, and the model name links to that page, which is the source for the row. The weights are our catalogue’s operating weights, so the class column and the price column come from the same record.

| LiuGong 9027FE EV | 2.75 t | Battery, 44.8 V pack in our catalogue | ₹28.5–31.5 Lakh |

Five of those power-source entries were checked against the maker’s own India page on 26 October 2026 rather than taken from our record alone. LiuGong India gives the 922FE Cable a 35 metre or 45 metre cable reel and a working range under 50 metres, and the 922FE Battery an LFP pack with 423 kWh of rated storage. SANY India lists a 160 kVA power transformer on the SY215EP and calls the SY375EP a cable-type electric excavator with a 300 kVA transformer. Volvo’s India page for the EC500 Electric gives its connector type as Grid and describes a continuous cable connection with no recharging. For the rest we have reported what our catalogue holds and said plainly where it is silent, rather than filling the gap with a guess.
What actually moves the number
Five things explain most of the distance between a band on a page and the quote you are handed.
Battery size. On a battery machine the pack is the single largest item inside the price, and it scales with how long you need to dig between charges. The 423 kWh on the 922FE Battery is sized to cover a working shift. Ask what pack a quote is built on before you compare two numbers, because a smaller pack is a cheaper machine and a shorter day.
The charger or the supply point. This is the cost most buyers miss, and it sits outside the machine price in every row above. A battery machine needs a charger and somewhere to put it. A cable-fed machine needs a supply it can reach, which is why the transformer ratings in the table matter: a 160 kVA or 300 kVA transformer, the cabling and the connection work are a site project in their own right. The cable reel also sets a radius. With 35 or 45 metres of cable and a working range under 50 metres, either the supply follows the dig or the dig stays near the supply.
Warranty. On a battery machine the pack warranty is worth more than almost any other line in the deal, and the India pages we read do not publish one. Treat any payback, battery-life or running-cost figure you are shown as the maker’s own claim until it is written into your order, and get the pack’s term and its hour limit on paper.
The dealer and what is in the deal. Commissioning, operator training, freight to site, the first services and the bucket are all negotiable and all move the total. Two quotes for the same model are often not quoting the same thing.
Where it is going. Delivery distance and what your state charges for power both follow the machine for its whole life, and the second is by far the bigger number. Our running-cost comparison for electric and diesel excavators works that side through with dated tariffs and the method set out, so we have not repeated it here.
On the question buyers ask next: the central scheme most people have heard of, PM E-DRIVE, lists its eligible categories on its own portal as electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, ambulances, trucks and buses, plus charging infrastructure and testing-agency upgradation. Construction machines are not among them. We read the PM E-DRIVE portal on 26 October 2026 and found no excavator, backhoe, loader or dozer category on it. Budget on the full price, and take anything else you are told to your own adviser.
The electric premium, worked out on one matched pair
Most comparisons of this kind put an electric machine against a diesel one of a different size, which tells you very little. Our catalogue happens to hold a clean pair, so here is the arithmetic on it.
The LiuGong 922FE Cable and the diesel LiuGong 922E XD are both LiuGong machines, both listed at 22,000 kg operating weight, and both carry the same 1.15 cubic metre general purpose bucket. Same maker, same size, same bucket.
| Step | Our arithmetic |
|---|---|
| Electric: 922FE Cable | ₹58.9–65.1 Lakh |
| Diesel: 922E XD | ₹49.4–54.6 Lakh |
| Gap, low end to low end | 58.9 minus 49.4 = ₹9.5 Lakh |
| Gap, high end to high end | 65.1 minus 54.6 = ₹10.5 Lakh |
| As a share of the diesel band | 9.5 ÷ 49.4 = 19.2%; 10.5 ÷ 54.6 = 19.2% |
| Electric premium on this pair | ₹9.5–10.5 Lakh, about 19% |
This is our arithmetic, not a maker’s claim, and the method is deliberately plain. Take the two indicative bands exactly as our own product pages carried them in October 2026, subtract low end from low end and high end from high end, then divide each gap by the matching end of the diesel band. It compares listed bands and nothing else. It leaves out the supply point and transformer the cable machine needs, freight, commissioning, and every hour of running cost, and those pull the real gap in opposite directions: the supply equipment widens it, the energy bill narrows it over the machine’s life. Read the 19 per cent as the starting distance between two sticker bands on one pair in one month, not as a rule for the segment.
Why seven of these machines carry no figure
Seven of the thirteen say price on request, and that is not evasion. Look at which ones they are: the two SANY cable machines, the Volvo EC500 Electric, the two Liebherr mining excavators and the two BEML machines. Each is specified around a particular site before anything else, including the supply point and its transformer, the cable run, the bucket and the duty the machine will work to. A 175 tonne mining excavator has no standard configuration to put a number against. Publishing one for machines like these would mean publishing a figure we could not stand behind, so the page asks you to talk to someone instead.
If you want the specification picture before the money conversation, the electric equipment guide covers how these machines work and what to check, our list of the 10 most advanced electric excavators covers the models themselves, and our status list of electric construction equipment in India covers what is genuinely on sale beyond excavators. Every machine above sits on our electric excavator category page, where the current figure is always the one on the product page rather than the one in an article.
Where to take this next
Start from the class you actually need rather than the price you hope for. In the 22 tonne class the two 922FE variants sit in the same band, so choosing between them is a site question and not a price question: a cable if your supply can follow the dig, a battery if it cannot. Below 8 tonnes the 9027FE EV and the 908FE EV are the only electric options we carry. Above 40 tonnes everything is a quote. Once you have a model in mind, the electric excavator category page carries the live figure, the full specification and the enquiry route, and our equipment finance page covers how buyers usually fund a machine in this bracket.
This page was compiled on 26 October 2026 and we refresh it monthly, because the bands on our product pages move and quote-only machines sometimes gain a published figure.
All figures here are indicative bands as carried on our product pages in October 2026, not quotations, and prices in this class change with specification, battery size, supply equipment and location. Specifications are as listed in October 2026. Please confirm the current price, the battery warranty terms and the full specification with the dealer in writing before you commit to a purchase.
