Quarry Machinery in India: Models, Tenders, Companies and News

A stone quarry in India runs on 25 to 50 tonne excavators, wheel loaders at the crusher, a dozer for stripping and a grader on the haul road. This page keeps those machine classes, the models buyers ask about, open quarry and earthwork tenders, the quarrying states, the main companies and the latest news in one place.

  • 8 machine classes
  • 288 models listed

Machines, tenders and news on this page refresh twice a day. Last refreshed 1 October 2026.

Which quarry machines do buyers ask about most?

The order follows the enquiries buyers sent us over the last four months, with no more than two models from one brand.

Which brands make these machines?

The brands with the most models listed in these classes. Each name opens that brand's range.

Where is stone quarrying concentrated in India?

Building stone is a minor mineral under section 3 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, which means quarry leases are granted by state governments under their own minor mineral concession rules rather than by the centre. One consequence shows up straight away in the data: producers report their output to the state, not to the Indian Bureau of Mines, so national quarry figures are patchy by design. The Bureau says as much in its own granite review.

What is recorded is where the stone sits. Taking granite as the best documented case, the Indian Bureau of Mines put national resources at 46,320 million cubic metres as on 1 April 2015, and split them between Karnataka and Rajasthan at about 20% each, followed by Jharkhand at 19%, Gujarat at 18%, Andhra Pradesh at 5% and Madhya Pradesh and Odisha at 4% each. Those states hold 90% of the total between them.

Resources and working quarries are not the same thing, and the Bureau lists the producing states separately: granite in raw and processed form comes mainly from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. The same review notes that the dimension stone industry employs over a million people and matters most to the economies of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Rajasthan (Indian Minerals Yearbook 2022, granite review, released March 2024).

Aggregate quarries follow a different rule entirely. Crushed stone is too heavy to travel far before haulage costs more than the stone, so aggregate quarries cluster around whatever is being built. Every large city and every highway package has a ring of them within a short haul, which is why a quarry machine owner’s market is local in a way a highway contractor’s is not.

Who are the main quarry companies in India?

Most quarrying in India is done by small operators working one lease, which is why national figures are hard to come by. The companies with a name outside their own district tend to be dimension stone producers or state mineral undertakings. The list is alphabetical, not a ranking, and each line describes what the company itself says it quarries.

Company What it quarries or produces
Aravali Marbles Granite, marble, basalt, sandstone and slate, with production locations at Udaipur and Jalore in Rajasthan and Ongole and Madurai in the south
Madhav Marbles and Granites Marble, granite, quartz and limestone, processed from the mineral belt around Salem in Tamil Nadu
Pokarna Extracts and processes natural granite; the company is based at Secunderabad in Telangana
R K Marble Marble and granite from quarries at Dharmeta, Morwad, Dhariyawad and Banswara in Rajasthan and Majoli in Madhya Pradesh
Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals A Government of Rajasthan undertaking working rock phosphate, lignite, steel grade limestone and gypsum
Southern Rock A government approved mine owner in Kerala producing aggregate, concrete and plastering sand and rock powder
Tamil Nadu Minerals A Government of Tamil Nadu undertaking started in 1978, working granite along with graphite, limestone, standard sand and vermiculite

The list is short on purpose. It carries only companies whose own published material states what they quarry, and it leaves out the thousands of single lease operators who between them raise most of India’s stone.

Frequently asked questions

Which machines does a stone quarry use?

A stone quarry loads its blasted face with 25 to 50 tonne excavators, feeds the crusher with wheel loaders, strips the cover with a dozer and keeps the haul road in shape with a motor grader. Crushers, screens, drilling rigs and tippers work alongside, but they are not listed here.

Which machine carries the rock breaker at a quarry?

A 15 to 25 tonne excavator usually carries the rock breaker that splits boulders too big for the crusher. The breaker is an attachment that runs off the excavator's hydraulic circuit.

Where can I see quarry and earthwork tenders that are open now?

The tender list on this page shows stone, aggregate and earthwork packages that are still open, closing soonest first. It is rebuilt twice a day, and the tenders page carries every open tender.

Can I finance or insure a machine for this work through DesiMachines?

The finance page compares lenders and lets you work out an EMI, and the insurance page explains what a machine policy covers. Both are linked on this page.
